For our M&M lab, the question we wanted to find the answer to was, “Is there a dominant color of M&M?” Our prediction was that green was the dominate color. The independent variable is how many of each color of M&M’s there are, and the dependent variable which colors there were the most of in the M&M’s.
At the end of our M&M lab, our hypothesis was proven wrong. We thought that there would be a dominant M&M color, and we thought that the dominant color would be green. After checking with the pie chart, green was the fourth color. There actually was a dominant color in our group though. After all the data was placed together, the dominant color was orange, however, there was no dominant color in every bag.
Hypothesis- a scientific guess Data gathering- collects and measure data Multiple trials- how many times you do the experiment Variance- being different Average- all numbers in a set are added together and divided by however many there were Median- middle number in a set of data Mode- appears most often in a set of data Histogram- special kind of bar graph where the intervals are equal Pie chart-a circle is split into different sections that each represents part of the graph Inference- an answer formed off of reasoning and evidence
